Sumit Arora
Joined and became director on 1994. Become director in 2000. Deals with some of the largest MNCs in the industry and handles international trade. Has helped grow the company tremendously internationally. Represented India at the Solvent extraction association at Argentina.
Company history
Company was started by Late Shri. Raghunath Das Arora before the partition under the name of ‘Raghunath and Company’ which was later changed to ‘Punjab Oil Traders’. We started with trading and commission based brokering of edible oils. Even at the time, we were among the most renowned companies in Industry nationwide. In 1965, Late Mr. Krishan Arora, Raghunath Das Ji’s son, joined the business. Under his leadership, the business grew tremendously in edible and non-edible oils trade. Upon the passing of Late Shri Raghunath Das Ji, in 1977, his younger son also joined the business. Both brothers led the company to new heights and the company was officially incorporated on 3rd March 1984 under the name ‘Raghunath Agencies Pvt. Ltd.’ The company has always dealt with some of the biggest names in the industry, including but not limited to, Hindustan Livers, Godrej, tata, DCM, etc. We became one of the leading agent in Rice Bran oil and specialised in all solvent extracted oil. In 1995, Mr. Sumit Arora, Late Mr. Krishan Arora’s son joined the business. Near the year 2000, the company started engaging in indenting of vegetable oils to international and local buyers. ADM, Cargill, Bungee, Local- Adani Wilmar, Ruchi Soya, etc.
Industry Introduction
Edible Oils and Oilseeds are used in food and non-food industries like FMCG, animal feed, oleochemical and biodiesel industry. 4 Major Vegetable oils are Palm, Rapeseed, Soya and Sunflower all majorly produces outside India. The total national import expenditure was $18 Billion in 2021. India accounts for 4% of global production, 19% of global imports and 11% of global consumption. India has a total consumption of 25 Million Tons per annum. To satisfy this demand, the local production is 9 million tons while the remainder 16 million tons is imported annually. This demand is continuously growing at rate of 1.8% We facilitate the import of this trade as indenters or brokers. Our annual brokerage is roughly 2 million tons, meaning almost 8% of national demand is brokered by us. We have a strong presence in North, West and East India with offices in Delhi, Rajkot, Kandla and Indore.
